About Good Instincts
Good instincts are built.
The people side of work is rarely black and white. There is not always a script for what to say, a policy for what to do, or one communication style that works for everyone.
Good Instincts exists to help people become more intentional about how they understand, communicate with, lead, and make decisions about people.
We teach people how to think, not what to think.
About Meghan
I learned HR from textbooks. I learned people judgment by sitting across from leaders.
My career has put me in the middle of performance conversations, employee situations, leadership development, talent decisions, team dynamics, and the moments where there is not one obvious answer.
Over time, I became less interested in giving people the answer and more interested in helping them develop the judgment to find it themselves.
That is the idea behind Good Instincts.

Our leadership standard
We believe you can care about people and hold high standards.
You can tell someone the truth and treat them with dignity. You can create accountability and still ask what changed. You can care about the business, the results, and the work without forgetting about the person doing it.
Great leadership requires both.
Explore leadership- Care about the person and the performance.
- Set high expectations.
- Tell the truth.
- Notice when something changes.
- Ask before you assume.
- Challenge people to grow.
- Make hard decisions with dignity.
People remember what it felt like to be led by you.
Good Instincts is not about getting more output from employees. It is about becoming better at leading people. The deeper question is not whether you are technically doing the job of managing well. It is what kind of person you want to be in someone else’s experience of work.
If that is not the kind of leader you want to be, Good Instincts is not for you.
The Good Instincts Method
Notice more. Ask better. Make the call.
We do not give people one “right” script. We teach them to notice more, ask better questions, understand the person, adapt the approach, make the call, act with clarity, and learn from what happens next.
Notice
Pay attention to what you are seeing, hearing, and feeling.
Question
Ask one more question.
Understand
See the person, not just the behavior. Zoom in on the person and zoom out to the system.
Adapt
Know your default. Read their preference. Adapt your approach.
Decide
Test your assumptions, consider the impact, and make the call.
Act
Create clarity. Say what needs to be said. Follow through.
Reflect
Learn from what happened and carry the lesson forward.
