Good Instincts helps you think more clearly about the people side of work. Here’s what it is, and what it isn’t.

Educational content

Everything on this site, including articles, Instinct Checks, videos, tools, worksheets, and emails, is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is designed to help you notice more, ask better questions, and strengthen your own judgment. It is not advice about your specific situation.

Not legal or compliance advice

Employment law and workplace policies vary by location, industry, and organization. Nothing from Good Instincts is legal advice or a statement of what the law requires, and using our content or coaching doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship. If your situation has legal implications, talk to a qualified employment attorney and follow your organization’s policies.

Not medical or mental-health advice

Good Instincts is not therapy, counseling, or medical care, and it isn’t a substitute for help from a licensed professional. If you or someone you’re concerned about may be in crisis, in the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In an emergency, call 911.

Not investigations or employee-relations decisions

Coaching with Good Instincts strengthens your thinking and leadership. It doesn’t replace your organization’s HR, legal, or employee-relations processes. We don’t investigate complaints, determine what happened in a workplace dispute, or make employment decisions on anyone’s behalf. If a situation involves possible harassment, discrimination, retaliation, safety concerns, or other legal risk, follow your organization’s policies and involve the appropriate people right away.

Your decisions are yours

Meghan shares how she would think through a situation, including in the “What I’d do” section of each Instinct Check. That is one experienced perspective, never “the correct answer.” You know your people, your organization, and your context. You are responsible for the decisions you make and how you apply anything you learn here.

Scenarios are illustrative

The situations in our Instinct Checks, articles, and tools are illustrative. They are written or combined from common workplace patterns to make a point, and they don’t describe real people, real organizations, or any current or former employer. Any resemblance to a specific person or situation is coincidental. The views shared here are Meghan’s own and don’t represent any current or former employer.

Behavioral preferences are generalizations

When we talk about behavioral preferences, such as being naturally direct or tending to keep the peace, we’re describing common tendencies to help you adapt your approach. They are not diagnoses, personality assessments, or labels, and they shouldn’t be used to make employment decisions about anyone.

Please protect other people’s privacy

When you contact us, book a session, or work through a situation with us, please leave out names and identifying details about other employees. Describing the situation is enough. See ourPrivacy Policy for how we handle what you share.

No guarantees

Building better instincts takes practice, and results depend on many things outside our control. We don’t guarantee any particular outcome from using our content, tools, or coaching.
